Tired of visiting new towns and when you get there, the only restaurants that line the highway are the same ones on a different highway in your home town? Well, you’re in luck, Galveston doesn’t have a highway.

Actually, the Galveston restaurant scene is where it’s at man. Seafood, Italian, Tex-Mex, even down home cooking, they’ve got it all. From little neighborhood spots to high end restaurants on the waterfront, whatever you’re in the mood for, you’re going to get your fix!

We’ve got so many great restaurants that I would run out of internet pixels just trying to describe them. So I’m just going to throw a few out there that are our favorites. Let me know in the comments what I’m missing and I’ll go and do some recognizance.

Empty Your Wallet Fancy

• Gaidos – Been around forever, there’s a reason why it’s a favorite destination in Galveston, located on Seawall, make sure to get a picture of you in front of the giant crab, mainly seafood.
• Rudy and Pacos – Award winning restaurant on the Strand, American/Seafood.
• The Steakhouse – The name says it all, located at the San Luis Hotel on the Seawall.
• Pier 13 – Primarily a steak house with a little seafood thrown in, located on Offat’s Bayou.

Impress a Date Fancy

• Mario’s Seawall Italian – Best pizza on the island, but so much more, Italian restaurant located on the Seawall, hence the name.
• Olympia Grill at Pier 21 – Great Greek food, great waterfront deck, located on the ship channel by The Strand.
• Landry’s – But this is a chain restaurant you say! I respond with yeah, but it has great food! Located on the Seawall.
• Blvd Seafood – A restaurant run by a chef so it has to be great! So say the hipsters, great fresh seafood served with a wonderful view of the Gulf.

Great Casual Hangout Fancy

• The Spot – American food, great place to hang out, 5 restaurants in one spot (get it?), located on the Seawall.
• Longboards – What’s better than sitting across the street from the beach? Sitting with a fish taco and a beer. Service can be a little lackadaisical, but when The Spot is too crowded to get into, head on over to here.
• Yaga’s – Located on The Strand, sit on the patio and people watch, more American food here.
• Nick’s Kitchen and Beach Bar – Sit in the hot tub and eat lunch if you’re so inclined! Actually I think that’s not allowed. But they do have a hot tub, and a pool, just limit you’re consumption to drinking when you’re also floating. Located on the seawall.

Local’s Spots

Yeah, right, like I’m going to give away my secret places so you guys can come down and crowd them and I’m stuck on a waiting list. What? What’s the purpose of this paragraph then? Alright then, here are our favorite restaurants in Galveston, at least say hi when you’re sitting at your table and I’m stuck on the list.

• Gordita’s – Great Mexican food! Very authentic Mexican/Columbian food served with a helping of soccer on every TV. Awesome staff, awesome menu. Do yourself a favor and visit this place.
• Huli Huli Hut – Sit outside and enjoy the breeze blowing down 19th Street. Enjoy the Hawaiian theme inside. American/Hawaiian and seafood, the three major food groups.
• Marina Bar and Grill -Next to the boat ramp at the Galveston Yacht Basin, head upstairs and enjoy the view. You might even be able to see a cruise ship leaving port, as well as a few dolphins. Not just bar fare, seafood (grilled or fried), pasta, they even serve breakfast.
• Cafe Michael Burger – Best hamburger on the island! Situated at the beginning of the West End, they have Burgers, German food (and beer!), and a great beachy vibe.

This is not a comprehensive list of restaurants in Galveston. There are so many great restaurants that I love to go to but I wouldn’t be able to do them justice, maybe a longer post in the future.
